The Low Vision Club and the Blinded Veterans Association have a bowling
league which bowls from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each
month at AMF Wonder Lanes, 1948 Austin Highway. Cost is $1.25 per game,
and a total of three games are bowled. Shoes are free. They also
need some sighted volunteers to keep score and assist club members to play.
If you can help or want to bowl yourself, call Cindy at (210) 287-9039. At this time no transportation is provided. Via buses and
taxis are available.
A
new arts and crafts group is forming to meet on the fourth Saturday of each
month at Warm Springs Resource Center from 10am to 12 noon. Space is
limited. If you’d like to come, call Cindy at (210) 344-1479 to find out
about the next arts and crafts class.
The
Low Vision Club Game Day meets once a month on a Saturday. We start
gathering at 9:30 a.m. for social time. Games are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
with a break for lunch. We buy our lunch where we meet. There is no
charge for the games.
At the present time we play Scrabble, dominos and card games.
We do teach people who do not know how to play. Other games can be added
if enough people are interested.
Contact Low Vision Club member, Pegie Gonzalez, by phone at (210) 493-9272 or
e-mail at pegiejoy@aol.com for more
information and to sign up.

If you want to walk for exercise and enjoy some close companionship, you may
want to join the North Star Mall Walkers. They meet every Thursday morning
at 8 a.m. in Luby’s Cafeteria at North Star Mall.
No need to register in advance and no dues. (But if you want an orange
juice, coffee and a roll, you need to pay $3.) Most members walk between 7
and 8 a.m. before breakfast. The only mall entrance open at that time is
on the south side by the parking garage and the VIA bus stop. For more
information, call Ed Dylla at 223-2197.
